Paul (Jug) Johnson, 82, of Atikokan, passed away peacefully November 4, 2020.
Paul was born on November 21, 1937 to Peter and Jarda Johnson in Fort Frances where he was raised. At a young age he developed a thirst for knowledge and a desire to know how things worked by taking them apart, and occasionally putting them back together, which followed him throughout life. He apprenticed and became a mechanic at Henry Motors.
Leaving the garage, he worked in various bush camps in the region. After marrying Sharon in 1971 they moved to Atikokan where he worked at Pluswood and later Proboard until his retirement. After retirement and surviving cancer he could still be found working on various project for friends and organizations at home and around the area. He enjoyed hunting, curling (especially bonspiels), all things mechanical, brewing (and drinking) beer, and later in life HAM radio, all of which he was an active part of up to the end.
Paul is survived by his wife Sharon and sons Jason and Justin (Sarah), grandson Arion Galick, siblings Ann Erb, Don (Jody) Johnson, and Janet Novak, as well as numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom he cared for deeply.
Cremation has taken place. At this time, no service will be held.
