PAUL JOSEPH TUREWICH

Paul Joseph Turewich passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at his residence in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Jan. 1, 1935 in Fort Frances to the late Joseph and Jessie Turewich.
Paul spent his youth in Fort Frances, attending Robert Moore elementary school and later graduating from Fort Frances High School in 1953.
Paul went on to earn his Engineering Technologist diploma from Ryerson University in Toronto. After graduation, Paul spent a short time working for Inco in Thompson, Man.
Upon his return to Fort Frances, he accepted a position with the Public Utilities Commission, where he worked for 32 years until his retirement in November, 1993.
Those who had the pleasure of working with Paul have described him as being meticulous and technically thorough in all of his work. He was a respected mentor among his colleagues.
Paul married his beloved wife, Eleonor Magnan, on June 20, 1964 and they shared a life together for almost 48 years.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors, and in his younger years he went on many memorable hunting and fishing expeditions with friends and family.
Paul, Eleonor, and daughter, Joanne, looked forward to camping in the summer, which was a special time for their family for many years. Parkview Campground became Paul’s retreat for more than 35 years.
Paul always will be remembered for his honourable qualities. He sought perfection in all of his endeavours. Paul was especially friendly and enjoyed chatting with everyone he met around town.
He had a terrific sense of humour, and appreciated hearing or sharing a good joke with others.
Paul was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. “Papa” Paul was especially fond of his grandson, John Paul, and made sure there were many bike rides and outings to Tim Hortons whenever John Paul visited.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eleonor; daughter, Joanne and son-in-law, Reid Cummings; and their son, John Paul.
He also will be fondly remembered by his sister, Rose Bernardi; brother, Larry Turewich; brothers-in-law, Albert Magnan, Dan (Sylvia) Magnan, and Jim (Marlene) Magnan; and sister-in-law, Irma Bjornson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He will be especially missed by his niece, Nicole, and nephews, Brian and Peter.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Turewich; his father- and mother-in-law, Anthony and Christina Magnan; and brothers-in-law, Albert Bernardi and Ron Bjornson.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
