In the early morning hours on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, cancer took Paul Ewacha, aged 82, from us.
Paul was born in Thunder Bay to Nick and Francis Ewacha. He moved to Fort Frances in 1971 to work in the mill as an Instrument Mechanic and moved up to the position as Maintenance Supervisor before retiring in 1996.
He loved living on the lake and was a true outdoorsman. Fishing and hunting were his passions and he loved to fire up the grill and share his take with friends and family. After retirement, he started wood carving and created many wonderful items. Paul also became a bit of a world traveller but he really loved spending his winters with many new friends in the Phoenix area of Arizona.
Paul is preceded in death by his father Nick Ewacha; parents-in-law, Mike and Elly Zub; brothers-in-law Gordon Halvorson and Freidel Wieser; and sister-in-law Paula Ewacha.
He is survived by his mother Francis Ewacha, living in Thunder Bay; his long time companion Mariette McRae; his children Denise (Rob) Chapman from Edmonton, Alta., Darrin (Sandra) Ewacha along with their sons Lucas, Jacob and Matthew from Richmond Hill, Ont., and the mother of Paul’s children, Carol Ewacha. He has two sisters, Pat Halvorson and Kay Wieser in Thunder Bay and four brothers, Russell (Gail) of Kelowna, B.C., James (Diane) of Thunder Bay, Kenneth (Debbie) of Delbourne, Alta., and Fred (Nicole) of Niagara Falls, Ont.
Paul did not want a service, preferring that people remember him full of life. Let the important people in your life know that they are loved.
