Lafleur, Patti

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patti LaFleur (née Shine), our dear mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend.

Patti lit up the room with her warmth, presence and positivity. She was a strong, resilient woman who will leave a lasting impression on all those she met.

Patti bravely and ferociously won her battle with breast cancer and graced our presence with an extra five years of life and a wealth of new memories that we will always cherish. After a sudden hospitalization, she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Marilyn and Leonard Shine; mother and father-in-law, Jean Paul and Lucielle LaFleur; her aunt, Karen Mosbeck; cousin, Sheldon Mosbeck; and her sister-in-law, Linda LaFleur.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 38 years, Mark LaFleur; her eldest daughter, Andrea Kennett, husband Travis, and kids, Brooke and Derek; her son, Jeff LaFleur, wife, Amy, and kids, Tyler, Presely and Colt; her daughter, Kim Daley, and husband, Malcolm, and furry granddogs, Remy and Sparrow; and her brother, Larry Shine, wife, Kari, and kids, Ashley and Josh.

She built a beautiful life and a welcoming home with her husband and they loved spending time and energy at the cabin where they created an amazing getaway for family and friends alike.

Patti was always around to enjoy a heartfelt talk over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and she will always be remembered for her ability to listen, to care and to forgive. To focus on the best aspects of everyone and everything, to find perfection within the imperfect and to bring balance to any room she entered.

She loved being a mom but she adored her grandchildren and got endless enjoyment watching them grow and taking any chance she had to spoil them.

She was deeply proud of her gardens and her home. She always made sure the flowers were well-watered and her home was spotless.

One thing that we will always remember about Patti is her sense of humour: straightforward but understated.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Devlin Community Centre.

Please wear bright colours to represent Patti’s colourful soul and love for life.
