Oscar Carl Olson, born Aug. 23, 1965 in Fort Frances, Ont. died Aug. 30, 2008 in Conmee Township at the age of 43.
Carl will be sorely missed by his wife Helmi and their children Lucas and Lynnaya; her daughter Sabrina; his dad Ivan Leonard; aunt Ruth Vivian of Fort Frances; sister Sharon of Vernon, B.C.; brothers Norm (Shiro) of Abbotsford, BC, Eric (Judy) of Conmee, and Gord (Tammy) of Delta, BC; nephews and nieces Sander, Sarah, Oskar, Nolan, Kristina, Keshi, Joshua and many friends.
Carl was predeceased by grandparents Oscar and Minnie Olson of Fort Frances, Norman and Christina MacNaughton of Winnipeg and his mom, Margaret Mary Olson of Conmee, on Jan. 5, 1975.
Carl was a carpenter and a log builder. His work took him across Ontario, Vancouver and Japan. The log home that he designed and built for himself on Olson Road in Conmee township and the cane that he crafted for his dad after his stroke were projects that he took special pride in.
Carl fought cancer courageously with his sense of humor intact. He enjoyed music and reminisced about old times with his wife and family by his side.
Condolences can be posted at www.everestofthunderbay.com. If friends wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association. There will be a celebration of life at the Conmee Community Centre on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1:30 pm.
In his last months, Carl took comfort in the promise of forgiveness and eternal life that Jesus Christ made to those who turn to him. He thanked the Lord daily for Helmi and told family and friends to lighten up and laugh. Carl’s quick smile, hearty laugh and warm spirit will be greatly missed.
“Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
