The family of Ore Marlene LaFreniere, 72, of 960 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., announce with sadness her passing on Monday, March 28, 2011 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Marlene was born July 21, 1938 in Fort France to the late Oliver and Gladys Dandeneau.
In her early years, she worked as a L.P.N. at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, as well as other hospitals and clinics in Canada and the United States.
On Feb. 11, 1956, Marlene was united in marriage to Adrian LaFreniere.
Marlene was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Ladies Auxiliary, and other clubs and associations in Arizona, where they spent many of their winters over the years.
Marlene also loved spending much of their time with her family at their summer home at Reef Point on Rainy Lake.
She will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends.
Marlene is survived by two sons, Paul and Emily LaFreniere of Fort Frances, Ont. and Dale and Marie LaFreniere of Kingston, Ont.; and her three grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, and Nicholas.
She also is survived by her sister, Marie Dunbar of International Falls, Mn.; sister-in-law, Pat Dandeneau of Englewood, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Bob and Joyce LaFreniere of Fort Frances, Ont. and Ray and Audrey LaFreniere of Dryden, Ont.; special friends, Jackie and Victoria Dupuis-Brandli of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Adrian LaFreniere, in 2009; and her brother, Bertrand Dandeneau.
Cremation has taken place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Inurnment will take place in the La Verendrye Columbarium in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be Marlene’s family and friends.
