It is with great sadness that the family of Opal Mann announces her passing on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Opal was born Jan. 4, 1919 in Baudette, Mn. to Nels and Emma Anderson. The family relocated to Rainy River, Ont. when Opal was a small child.
Opal attended the Alexander MacKenzie School and then completed her education at Rainy River High School.
On Dec. 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Joseph Mann and together they settled in Rainy River. In 1963, the family moved to La Vallee, Ont., where she resided until moving to Emo, Ont. following her husband’s passing.
During their time in La Vallee, Opal worked for the Millers Store.
Opal was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and card games, and travelling to Warroad with her friend, Agnes.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Mann, on June 1, 1992; parents, Nels and Emma Anderson; sons, Wayne and Bill; and brother, Ted.
Opal is survived by her children, Larry (Laurie) Mann, Dennis (Charlotte) Mann, and Terry (Lynda) Mann of Emo, Ont., and Leonard (Connie) Mann of Barwick, Ont.; grandchildren, Debbie (Duane) Longmuir, Libby Mann, Trisha (Keith) Cates, Michael (Tana) Mann, Jason (Lucy) Mann, Bill (Dawn) Mann, Tami (Robin) LeBlanc, Tyler Mann (friend, Tess Galusha), Josh Whalen (friend, Dawn Seymour), Jamie Mann, Brody Mann, and Brett Mann; and great-grandchildren, Brent Longmuir, Avery Cates, Kennah LeBlanc, Nolan Mann, and Keiran Mann.
She also is survived by her sisters, Violet Gatton of Minneapolis, Mn., Ruby Mann of Edmonton, Alta., and Darlene (Al) McAffrey of Winnipeg, Man.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
At Opal’s request, cremation has taken place at Riverside Crematorium in Thunder Bay, Ont., with interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
