It is with sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father, Omer Mervin Williamson, 64, on Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Omer as born Aug. 6, 1937 in Rainy River, Ont. and lived most of his early years on a farm in North Branch, Ont.
At the age of 16, Omer began trucking. Through hard work and dedication, he made this his life’s employment. Omer worked for many companies in the district and operated his own trucking company for many years.
In 1959, Omer wed Constance Shrumm. He and Connie moved to Fort Frances, where they raised their three children.
Omer enjoyed a variety of hobbies that included hunting, fishing, and golfing, but his most fun was had when he owned and flew his own plane.
He spent many happy years at his cabin with his family and friends. Omer was never so tired after work that he wouldn’t take all the kids in his area waterskiing.
Omer was a very social person. Everyone knew him. He was happiest when his house was full of friends and it usually was.
Omer was predeceased by his parents, Mervin and Dorothy Williamson; and his father-in-law, Beach Shrumm.
Left to mourn are his wife of 42 years, Connie; son, Dwight; daughters, Carla (Glenn) Carmody and Maureen Inkster; and grandsons, Craig Carmody, and Jacob and Joel Inkster.
Also left in sadness are his brother, Melvin (Donna) Williamson; sister, Lois (Ralph) Block; nephew, Jason Williamson; nieces, Karen Jazinski, Linda Epley, and Tanis Mann; and great-nephews, Jake Epley and Lane Mann.
Omer will be missed by his many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, with Rev. Jill Warner officiating.
Interment will follow at River-view Cemetery in Fort Frances.
