OLIVE ROSE (CORRIGAN) WRIGHT

Olive Wright, 87, of 851 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.
She was born Aug. 19, 1916 in Kingsford Township, Ont. to the late William and Margaret Bennell.
Olive spent her childhood years on the farm north of Emo, Ont. On Jan. 25, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Corrigan and raised their family on the farm three miles east of Emo.
Olive taught in one-room country schools in the area for many years. She also sewed, crocheted, and quilted a lot for her family and friends in the area.
Olive was a very giving person who enjoyed cooking, baking, and sharing her meals and goodies with everyone. At home, she often would be found working on jigsaw puzzles, or reading books late into the evening.
When away from home, Olive liked sightseeing many areas that she had an interest in.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence on Jan. 8, 1977. In 1985, Olive married Albert Wright and moved to Winnipeg, Man. for three years, until moving to Fort Frances in 1988.
Her husband, Albert Wright, predeceased her.
She also was predeceased by two sisters, Bertha Bennell (in childhood) and Hazel Pollard; and one brother, Alfred Bennell.
Olive is survived by two daughters, Ruth and husband, Gerald Sumner, and Irene and husband, Donald MacDougall, all of International Falls, Mn.; one son, William (Bill) Corrigan and wife, Marilyn, of Winnipeg, Man.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Violet Strom of Emo, Ont. and Eva McClain of Blackhawk, Ont.; one brother, Clifford Bennell and wife, Elaine, of Prince George, B.C.; one sister-in-law, Florence Bennell of Sioux Narrows, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo. Pastor Larry Connors officiated, with interment in Emo Cemetery in Emo.
Friends visited Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the Knox United Church in Emo.
Pallbearers were Don Strom, David Strom, Alvin McClain, Russell Pollard, Wayne Pollard, and Mike Sumner.
Honourary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
