ODA CAIN

Oda Cain, 92, of Devlin, Ont., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Oda was born Sept. 21, 1922 in Mecklenburg, Germany. While living in Winnipeg, Man., she met John (Bud) Cain, the love of her life, and they married on May 22, 1943.
Bud and Oda returned back to the family farm in Devlin. She spent her early years there raising their children and provided a loving home for their family.
Oda was actively involved in her community. She often acted as a delegate for the Presbytery/United Church Conference, and she thoroughly enjoyed working with the United Church Women’s Group (UCW).
Oda also taught Sunday School at the Guthrie United Church in Devlin for more than 30 years.
Her grandchildren were a predominate part of her life. They all loved spending time with her and were at the centre of her heart.
Oda had several passions, including gardening, berry-picking, swimming, letter-writing, and playing Chinese checkers and chess. She had a wonderful sense of humour, and had a genuine care and love for others.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholai and Barbara Classen; husband, John (Bud) Cain; and sons, Rod, Randy, and Charles.
Oda is survived by her children, Norman (Nancy), Carolynn Potter (Loren), William (Doris), Edward (Lori), Cindy Kaemingh (Arnold), and Heather Kitzul (Gord); 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and special extended family, Stuart (Marian) Williams and their family.
A celebration of Oda’s life was held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Guthrie United Church in Devlin, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment took place at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
