NORMAN EVERETT CALDER – Fort Frances Times

Norman Everett Calder, 60, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont.
He was born Jan. 21, 1946 to George and Mabel Calder.
Norman was a heavy equipment operator for numerous contractors in Northwestern Ontario until his retirement in March, 2005 due to illness.
He had the enjoyment of living as a proud partner and special grandfather to the grandchildren. The family will miss him very much. Norman was a caring and loving person to everyone he met during his lifetime. We will all miss him.
We love you, Norman, the big Indian, as some of his friends called him. Thank you for being there for us.
Norman is survived by the love of his life, Roseanna Cyr-Councillor of Northwest Bay, Ont.; four children, Dean (Nancy) of Northwest Bay, Ont., Randy (Cynthea) of Winnipeg, Man., Susan (Elwin) of Northwest Bay, Ont., and Tracey (Jason) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and 12 grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers, Douglas and wife, Dixie, and George (Dempsey) and wife, Barb, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters, Lillian (Lums) Bruyere of Atikokan, Ont., and Georgina Connor of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Norman was predeceased by his father, George, on Oct. 31, 1982; mother, Mabel, on Aug. 3, 1973; twin sister, Norma Fults on Feb. 26, 2001; sisters, Vivian (Pud) Pepin on Nov. 8, 2002 and Gloria Calder on July 11, 2004; six brothers and sisters in infancy; and brothers-in-law, Theodore Bruyere and Brian Connor.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 3, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating.
Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Couchiching Recreation Centre.
Cremation has taken place in Thunder Bay.
