Norah May (Keenahan)(Stalker) Walsh passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 at her home located at 550 Osborne St. in Fort Frances, Ont. with her family at her side.
Norah was born in McIrvine, Fort Frances, Ont., on May 4, 1921. Her loving parents were John and Alice (Smith) Keenahan. She had a brother, Frank, a sister, Kathleen (George Brooks) and later, one half-sister, Jane (Gunter Wirtz).
Norah was a passionate supporter of her family in all areas of their lives–academic, athletic, health, and medical. She was a major force behind her son, George’s, very passionate fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Norah loved to create–knitting, sewing, gardening, carpentry and she loved to participate and compete in running and swimming.
Norah was predeceased by her grandparents, Daniel and Jane Keenahan; parents, John and Alice Keenahan; step-mother, Gladys (McLeod) Keenahan; husband, Alex Stalker; husband, George Walsh; brother Frank Keenahan; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and George Brooks; daughter, Zoe; and nephew, Paul Wirtz.
Norah is survived by her half-sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Gunter Wirtz; her sons, Sandy Stalker and George Walsh; her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dick Trivers; grandsons, J.K. Stalker and Joseph (Satoko) Trivers; granddaughters, Marah (Monte) Trivers and Kathleen (Jon) Cuthbertson; great-grandchildren, Alexander Stalker, Jacob Bolzan, and Megan and Molly Carlson; nephews and nieces from the Brooks and Wirtz families; special friend, Tammie Corbett; and a myriad of friends in Thunder Bay and Fort Frances.
Norah had a strong faith, a deep love for family, friends and all God’s creation–she was truly inspirational. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ont. A celebration of Norah’s life will be held at the Fort Frances Church of the Holy Spirit on Friday, July 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Diane Clifford officiating.
