NORA (STROMSNES) DURGIN

Nora passed away suddenly on Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She resided with her son at 621 First St. E. in Fort Frances until her passing.
Nora was born in Blackhawk, Ont. on Sept. 2, 1918. She grew up and went to school there.
She married Ole Stromsnes on April 6, 1940. Later, she was remarried to Henry Durgin. She was predeceased by both.
She also was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Nellie Strand; an infant brother; her sister, Emma Wardman; son-in-law, Gerald Tetu; and friend, Dienna Daw.
Nora is survived by her daughter, Coreen Tetu, and son, Jerry Stromsnes, both of Fort Frances, Ont.; granddaughters, Deborah Duffy (Tim McCormick) and Lori (Scott) Clendenning; grandson, Michael Tetu; and eight great-grandchildren, Janelle Duffy, Brendon McCormick, Hailey, Calie, Jake, and Jenna Clendenning, and Kristina and Billy Tetu.
Also surviving is her sister, Signey Jordan of Fort Frances, Ont.; many nieces and nephews; and friend, Len Duffy.
Nora celebrated her 85th birthday on Sept. 2, 2003.
She was happiest at home with her faithful companions as she called them—her cats “Tiffy” and “Misty.” Her greatest love for life, however, was spending as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren, and geat-grandchildren, who always made her laugh.
Granny gave her love all the time. She was always there to share in happy and sad times. Her bond with her family was very strong and she will hold a special place in our hearts.
Nora’s wishes were to have a private family service held at a later date.
Should family or friends so desire, a donation in Nora’s memory can be made to Friends of Animals, Box 545, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
