In loving memory of Nora Mary Almskog, 89, of Atikokan, Ont., who passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan.
Nora was born May 12, 1912 in Mountain Grove, Ont. to Neil and Stella Kellar. She spent most of her life in Rainy River District.
She was united in marriage to Nels Almskog on Nov. 15, 1947.
She worked at Mathieu’s mill during the war and waitressed at the Huddle Restaurant in Fort Frances, Ont. for many years. She loved to crochet, knit, and spend time in the garden.
Nora moved to Atikokan in July, 2001 to be closer to her daughter, Lorraine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nels, on Sept. 10, 1976; parents, Neil and Stella Kellar; brother, Gordon Kellar; and sister, Florence Hastie.
Nora leaves behind her daughters, Lorraine Swire of Atikokan, Ont., Lois Martin of Quesnel, B.C., and Alfreda Mynott of Thunder Bay, Ont.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Stewart Kellar of Emo, Ont., and Lyle Kellar of Devlin, Ont.; sister, Jessie Rose of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 8, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with Rev. Marietta Marshall officiating.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont., and interment in Rainy River Cemetery in Fort Frances will take place at a later date.
