NOEMI TERESA (SCIAN) VENERUS

After a full life, Noemi Teresa Venerus passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born April 7, 1922 in Cordenons, Italy to Antonio and Fumitta Scian. Teresa married Cesare Venerus on Nov. 23, 1946.
Cesare immigrated to Canada, with Teresa following on Feb. 5, 1955 with their sons, Mario and Novelli. Initially, they settled on McKenzie Island, Ont., and later moved to Cochenour, Ont.
After retiring in 1985, they settled in Fort Frances to be closer to family.
Teresa was predeceased by her husband, Cesare, on Aug. 5, 1988; and four sisters and four brothers of Italy and Argentina.
She is survived by five sons, Mario and wife, Marilyn, of Fort Frances, Ont., Novelli of Spokane, Wash., Terry of Hamilton, Ont., Dino and wife, Carla, of Pickering, Ont., and George of Burlington, Ont., three granddaughters, Shannon and husband, Marc Brown, Melisa and husband, Tylar Wilson, and Tina Venerus; grandson, Christopher Venerus; and three great-grandchildren, Cody and Carter Brown, and Liberty Wilson.
Also surviving are her sisters, Maria Pastre and Anna Piva of Cordenons, Italy; sisters-in-law, Maria Venerus of Windsor, Ont., and Nelda Maranzana of New York; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Cremation has taken place, with interment to take place at the Lady Frances Columbarium at the Fort Frances Cemetery.
