NICOLE “NICKY” LYSIANE HUM (NEE DITTARO)

Wife, Mom and Grandma Nicole Hum passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, July 7, 2022, just three weeks short of her 71st birthday.

She was predeceased by parents Angelo and Mary Lou and is survived by husband Phil; children Andrew, Sarah (Jermayne Khan), Alexander and the love of her life, grandson Brady, all of Calgary. She is also survived by sister Nancy in Fort Frances, Ont.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins across Canada.

Nicky was born on July 31, 1951, and grew up in Fort Frances. She attended Queen’s University and obtained a degree in Nursing Science with honours and that is where she met Phil. After their marriage in 1974, she and Phil got to live across Canada on work related assignments in St. John’s, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Edmonton before finally settling in Calgary in 1977.

Nicky was always cheerful, optimistic, kind, generous, considerate and was always willing to lend a sympathetic ear. She disliked bullies and was always for the underdog. Her favourite pastime, other than playing with Brady, was to get into a good book, especially the archeology of ancient civilizations.

Nicky loved to cook, and making desserts for family gatherings was her favourite. Rest well, beloved. You are greatly missed and will be remembered by all those you have loved and those that will forever love you.

Cremation has taken place; interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
