It is with great sadness that the family of Nicole Amber (Nikki) Black announces her passing at Naicatchewenin First Nation on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 15.
Nicole was born on Wednesday, September 1, 1993 in Fort Frances, Ontario. She enjoyed attending Pow-wows and religious services and making new friends. She was a very outgoing person who was not a stranger to anyone and loved to make people laugh.
She also liked to hang out with her family and friends, and playing sports, including baseball.
She will be sadly missed by her parents, Bruce Black and Deborah Smith, of Naicatchewenin First Nation.
Also left to cherish her memory are her seven brothers and sisters, Erin Smith of Naicatchewenin First Nation, Melissa Smith of Couchiching First Nation, Matthew Smith, Eric Black, Delano Black, Destinee Black and Kaytlin Black, and her grandmother, Mary Smith, all of Naicatchewenin First Nation.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, John and Mae Black, and Alfred Smith.
A traditional wake will be held at the Naicatchewenin First Nation Community Centre on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. Gilbert Smith will officiate followed by interment in the Naicatchewenin First Nation Private Cemetery.

The active pallbearers will be Adrian Snowball, Larry McGinnis, Derek Shebagegit, Duane McGinnis, Darcy Arden and Aaron Councillor.
The honourary pall bearers will be Lenora Smith, Kendra Chartrand, Alyssa Hebert, Haley Councillor and Nina Councillor.
