Nicholas (Nick) Boresiuk, 90, of 913 Portage Ave. N., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born April 28, 1908 in Mamayestie, Romania to the late George and Sanefta Boresiuk. Nick moved to Canada in February, 1926, and the following year moved to Fort Frances, where he has lived here since.
He worked for 40 years exclusively in the Fort Frances district as a section man for the C.N. Rail until his retirement on May 18, 1968.
On Oct. 12, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Harasym. Nick loved gardening as a pastime.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jennie Boresiuk; one granddaughter, Beverly Boresiuk; and two brothers, Harry and John Boresiuk.
Nick is survived by his wife, Mary Boresiuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; his children, Rita and husband, Bob Matheson, of Calgary, Alta., Verona and husband, Henry Gosselin, of Winnipeg, Man., and Walter Boresiuk and wife, Alverne, of Fort Frances, Ont.; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998 at 10 a.m. at St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Fort Frances. Father Michal Lomaszkiewicz officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers were Hank Gosselin, Bob Matheson, Ilio Gushulak, and John Law.
