It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Nellie Leikam, in Fort St. John’s, B.C. after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Frances, October 9, 1922 to the late Wasyl (Bill) and Anna Sloboda.
Nellie leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters Margaret (Clarence) Dustin, Duchess, AB., Shirley Holborn, Thunder Bay, ON., Diane McLeod, Fort St. John’s, B.C., Janice (Ken) Tyndall, Calgary, AB., sons Lorne Leikam, Vancouver, B.C., Terry (Wanda) Leikam, Calgary, AB., 11 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters Jessie Budeselic, Thunder Bay, ON., Mary (Victor) Lindholm, Fort Frances, ON., Anne (Everett) Ramsey, International Falls, MN., brother Stanley Sloboda, Fort Frances, ON., and several nieces and nephews.
Nellie was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1955 and a son, Eugene, in 1956.
Funeral service was held in Fort St. John’s, B.C. with interment in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery,
Fort Frances, ON. on November 8, 2001 at 2 p.m.
