It is with great sadness that the family of Nellie Jerry announces her passing on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.
Nellie was born on Nov. 4, 1926 in Winnipeg, Man. to the late Frederick and Mary Haver.
Along with her parents and five brothers, she spent her younger years growing up in Mullvihill and Eriksdale, Man. In 1947, the family moved to farm in Crozier, Ont.
As a young woman, she met her soulmate, Harley. They were united in marriage on June 24, 1952 and she settled in to her role as wife and mother.
Although Nellie enjoyed some travelling, sightseeing, and adventures with her family, she preferred to be at home, spending her days gardening, tending to her flowers, and crocheting.
She loved her visits from friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Often our visits with (mom, mommy, Gramma JJ) would turn into giggle fests and silliness. We will truly miss our time with her.
She leaves behind her daughters, Valmarie (Loren) Jantzen, Evelyn Sletmoen (Gord McQuarrie), and Harlene (Dane) Lowey; grandchildren, Candace (Marko) Litwinenko, Trista (Mike) Davis, Christina (Jason) Campagna, Benjamin Sletmoen (Chelsey), and Dayna, Rebecca, and Matthew Lowey; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Owen, Dylan, Alyster, Isabella, Lilianna, Rino, and Giovanni.
She also is survived by her brother, Ronald Haver; nephew, Abby (June) Haver; niece, June (Bruce) Haver; and sisters-in-law, Erna Haver and Irene Hill-Haver.
Nellie was preceased by her parents; husband, Harley; brothers, Arnold, Leonard, Norman, and Edward Haver; and sister-in-laws, Marie, Alma, and Elvera Haver.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.
Friends visited half-an-hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, a luncheon was held at the Fort Frances Public Library.
After lunch, friends and family joined in procession to the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were Benjamin Sletmoen, Matthew Lowey, Marko Litwinenko, Mike Davis, Jason Campagna, and Dwayne Sletmoen.
Should friends and family so desire, donations may be made in her memory and in appreciation of her care to the Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home or the Rainycrest Auxiliary c/o Green Funeral Home.
