Nettie Christiansen, 73, of 960 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Friday, June 12, 1998 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man.
She was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Fort Frances to the late Viovanni and Eliza Toninato. Nettie lived all of her life in Fort Frances, and on Nov. 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Walter Christiansen.
She was an active member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League and the Sister Kennedy Centre in Fort Frances.
Nettie’s life centered around her family and extended family. All family gatherings gave her great pride and joy.
Nettie is survived by her husband, Walter Christiansen, of Fort Frances, Ont.; three sons, Ken Christiansen and wife, Mickey, of Fort Frances, Ont., Keith Christiansen and wife, Evie, of Duluth, Mn., and Kelvin Christiansen and wife, Marilyn, of Anchorage, Alaska; and five grandchildren, Mike and Rick Christiansen of Fort Frances, Ont., Brad Christiansen and wife, Jean, of Duluth, Mn., Marla and husband, Juhl Halvorson, of Minneapolis, Mn., and Sarah Christiansen of Anchorage, Alaska.
She also is survived by one sister, Sainta and husband, Ron Berry, of Fort Frances, Ont.; one brother, Willie Toninato and wife, Joyce, of International Falls, Mn.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Rose May Bolzan of Fort Frances, Ont.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Father Joseph Kane O.M.I. officiating.
Honourary pallbearers will be Rick Christiansen, Mike Christiansen, Sarah Christiansen, Brad Christiansen, Jean Christiansen, Marla Halvorson, Juhl Halvorson, and Gay Ryan.
