MURRAY KITTS

Murray Kitts passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 93.

Son of the late Mary Teresa Kitts (née Culleton) and the late John Francis Kitts, he leaves in sorrow his brother Kevin (Louise); his nephews Daniel (Amy Parr) and Robert (Emmy); his niece Catherine (Shane Bakker); his great-nieces Charlotte, Laura, and Melody; and his great-nephew Nolan.

Murray was a teacher and librarian at Fort Frances High School for many years. He was deeply involved in the community, particularly through the High School Drama Society, the High School Band, and the Little Theatre Group. The high school’s theatre award remains named in his honour.

He retired in 1988 and moved to Ottawa to be closer to his family, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

An avid bridge player, he loved travelling and had a passion for opera. He served as president of the National Capital Opera Society for several years.

Family and friends will gather in Ottawa to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home.

Anyone wishing to share their recollections of Murray may send them to murraykitts33@gmail.com.

Donations in his memory to the National Capital Opera Society (ncos.ca) would be appreciated.
