Muriel Gaille Marr

Muriel Gaille Marr, 81, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001.
She was born Nov. 27, 1920 in Thief River Falls, Mn. to the late Oscar and Edna Hagglund.
Following World War II, Muriel moved to Fort Frances, where she had lived since. She had worked as a hairdresser and bookkeeper, but her main occupation was caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She had many hobbies, which included sewing, crafting, curling, going to Las Vegas, playing card games, Bingo, and baking.
Muriel was united in marriage Jan. 1, 1943 to Jack Marr, who predeceased her April 10, 1971. She also was predeceased by her son, Jackie, on Jan. 17, 1967; brother, Truman Kolden; and sister, Avis Mooney.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Brenda) Marr of Fort Frances, Ont., Judith (Hector) MacDonald and Nancy (Robert) Anderson, all of Thunder Bay, Ont., Sandra Marr of Calgary, Alta., Wendy (Eric) Saranpaa of Thunder Bay, Ont., Susan Marr of Bakersfield, Calif., and Peggy Adams, Barbara Marr, and Cathy Marr, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Randy Roste, Jeffrey and David Marr, Jennifer, Valerie, and Janice Saranpaa, and Michael and Aimee Adams; four great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bill (Beth) Marr of Kenora, Ont. and Richard Mooney of Las Vegas, Nev.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Father Wayne McIntosh will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit Friday, Dec. 21, 2001 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
Honourary pallbearers will be Margaret and Jim Cox, Dorothy and Roy Burrell, Edith Carlson, and Vivian O’Donnell.
