Muriel McFayden, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921 in Kennedy, Sask. to Neal and Lottie Webb.
She was united in marriage to Borden McFayden on June 24, 1941 in the La Vallee United Church.
After marrying, she settled at home to raise her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who devoted herself to family and friends.
Her grandchildren have fond memories of their many visits, and will always remember the buckets of cookies she baked.
Muriel enjoyed being outdoors; hunting and fishing, as well as travelling.
Two years ago, she moved to Rainycrest, which she viewed as a second home.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents, Neal and Lottie Webb; husband, Borden McFayden; grandson, Michael McFayden; and brother, Darrell Webb.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Melvyn (Carroll) of Fort Frances, Ont., Murry (Dianne) of Dryden, Ont., and Merle (Katy) of Nestor Falls, Ont.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Thompson of Fort Frances, Ont. and Norma Niemi of Thunder Bay, Ont.; brother, Alan Webb of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as special friends, Bud and Oda Cain.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Hallett Hall at Rainycrest, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Cremation has taken place, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kevin (Kim), Jason (Kelly), Andrew, Kathleen (Tom Bedford), Colin (Shannon), and Susan McFayden and great-grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Cameron, Logan, and Paige McFayden, and Tavish Bedford.
