MONTICA RAE (ZUCCHIATTI) MCLEOD

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Montica Rae (Zucchiatti) McLeod on July 30, 2025, in International Falls, Minn., at the age of 76.

Monty (as she was always affectionately called) was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. She was married in 1966 to Bruce McLeod, and they made their way to Duluth, Minn., where they raised their two daughters Leah and Shannon.

Monty worked for many years in the dental field and ended her career as a dental assistant at Pike Lake Dental, where she worked for over 25 years. She was a familiar and friendly face to all her patients and had a special way of putting them at ease.

Monty loved to read and up until a few years ago, loved to walk all the beautiful places in Duluth; the Boardwalk and Brighton Beach were two of her favourites. She also cherished her weekends up on Rainy Lake at her brother Alan and sister-in-law Anne’s beautiful Chickadee Island cabin retreat.

Monty was preceded by her parents Gus and Caroline Zucchiatti; her brother John; and her nephew Bradley.

Monty is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters Leah (Peter) and Shannon; granddaughters Allyson (Jake) and Lindsey; great-grandchildren Layna and Kellan; brothers Alan (Anne) and Michael (Joan); Aunty Colleen; nieces; and many dear friends.

A special thank you to all the staff and residents at Good Samaritan-River’s Edge for their care and kindness.

Monty’s wishes were to be laid to rest with her parents at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Frances. A private graveside service will take place on August 29, 2025.
