It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mona MacPherson, nee Whalen, who passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer in the wee hours of the morning on Friday, June 17, 2011.
She will be dearly missed by her family.
Mona was born March 29, 1936 in Fort Frances, Ont.
Mona worked in the office of the Ontario Hydro Construction Division for 10 years, where she met her late husband, Gordon. Mona, along with her husband, operated the former MacPherson Plumbing & Heating business for 40 years.
Mona was a very kind, loving, generous, and private person.
She is survived by her loving family, Garry (Jonna) and Don (Carol), all of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and brother-in-law, Gerry (Molly) MacPherson, and sisters-in-law, Donna and Roslyn, all of Vancouver, B.C.
She also is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews of Thunder Bay, Ont., Arnprior, Ont., and British Columbia.
Mona was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; her parents, Ann and Henry; and sisters, Merla and Ruby, and a brother Eugene, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.
At Mona’s request, there will be no service or visitation.
Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
