MILDRED MARGARET JEAL

Mildred Jeal (nee Preston) passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at her home in Winnipeg, Man.
Midge was born Aug. 9, 1922 in Edmonton, Alta. to Nellie Pearl (nee Harley) and Samuel Preston.
Midge was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter, in 2002.
Midge leaves her beloved sister, Joan Lodwick; niece, Linda Chase (Ray) and nephew, Rocky Lodwick (Judy); and grand-nephews, Andrew and Ian, and grand-niece, Blythe.
Midge also will be sadly missed by her lifelong friend, Evelyn (Evie) Wright and her husband, Newton, their children, Connie, Edgar, and Tom, and many other friends in Ontario, Florida, Manitoba, and elsewhere.
Midge grew up in Fort Frances Ont. and moved to Toronto, Ont. as a young woman to pursue a career. She met Walter in Fort Frances during her youth and they were married in 1951.
Midge and Walter lived in New York, Toronto, and Kingston, Ont., and she spent the last six years in Winnipeg.
Midge lived a full life and lived it with gusto. A master in the kitchen, Midge and Walter loved entertaining their many friends and Walter’s business associates.
Midge had a passion for animals, travel, crafts, and the arts. Among her many talents, Midge was an accomplished singer and had a flair for various crafts, especially decoupage, which she loved to create and share as gifts to many friends and family.
Devout dog-lovers, Midge and Walter had Boston Terriers most of their married life—pets that they considered their “babies.” Midge also loved the warmer climates, and she and Walter enjoyed many winters at their home in Port Charlotte, Fla. until shortly before his passing.
Midge loved her “soul mate” Walter, her family, and her friends very dearly. She will be missed and remembered by all of us.
A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (4000 Portage Ave.)
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
