MIKE DOKUCHIE

Sadly the family announces the passing of Mike Dokuchie, 85, of Fort Frances, ON on Monday, July 13, 2015 at La Verendrye Hospital.
Mike was born in Sundown, MB on Nov. 17, 1929 to Maxsim and Nellie Dokuchie. When Mike was young the family moved to Arbor Vita, ON and later relocated to Fort Frances in the mid 1940s. He was united in marriage to Arvena Cutler and they enjoyed many happy years together.
Mike worked as a logger for most of his life and in his younger years, tried his hand at drilling and blasting for George Armstrong Construction during the raising of the Noden Causeway.
He loved to fish and hunt and will be fondly remembered by those who would see him and his cowboy hat while drinking coffee with his buddies at the Fort Frances A&W.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Barbara (Joe) Truesdell of Phoenix, AZ, Elaine (Ken) Oster of Fort Frances, ON, Roy (Evelyn) of Winnipeg, MB, Rob (Angela) of Fort Frances, ON, and daughter-in-law Debbie Dokuchie of Dryden, ON.
He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Suzanne, Angie, Joshua, Matthew, Michael, Jeremy, Brittni, Kelsey, Karly, Jacob and Ashtyn; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mike is also survived by his siblings, Millie, Julia, Victor and Gerald.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maxsim and Nellie; his wife Arvena (1999); sons, Michael (2007), Melvin (1989), granddaughter Christine Cain (2012), his siblings, Lucy, Jennie, Alex, Sirhey, Andrew, Harry, Joe and Walter.
As per Mike’s wishes an intimate family interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Fort Frances, ON, at a later date.
