Sadly, the family announces the sudden passing of Michael George McPherson, 59, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence.
Mike was born July 22, 1956 in Fort Frances to the late Arnold and Pat McPherson.
He worked as a contractor for many years, starting his career in Edmonton, Alta. He moved back to Fort Frances later and continued his career here.
Mike met the love of his life, Marg (Power), and they were married May 1, 1998. They welcomed their beautiful daughter, Yvonne, into their lives later that year. They were so very proud and happy.
Mike and Marg loved darts. They spent many days and nights practising and playing darts while having fun making new friends and travelling to tournaments.
Mike was a proud Legion member. He also liked to tinker in his garage on small projects, as well as entertain their friends there.
Mike is survived by his children, Yvonne, Chelsey, Chantel, and Jonathan; brother, Pat and children, Pamela and Preston of Edmonton, Alta.; sister-in-law, Wendy McPherson and son, Leyland (Danielle) and family of Calgary, Alta.; and sisters-in-law, Sarah (Mike) Gervais and children, Jason (Cherish), Alina, and Dallas (Caitlyn), of Fort Frances, and Liz Power (Brian) and children, Myles and BJ, Mary (Clifford) Comerford and family, Dave (Donna) Power and children, Felicia and Kandice, Frank Power, Richard (Tonnie) Power, and Ray Power, all of Newfoundland, and Joe Walsh of New Brunswick.
He also is survived by numerous other nieces and nephews; aunts, Belle Devoe and Jane Tokheim and family of Minnesota; as well as many special friends and trusty friend, their dog, “Mickey.”
Mike was predeceased by his wife, Marg; parents, Arnold and Pat; brother, David; in-laws, Frank and Veronica Power; and sisters-in-law, Barb and Yvonne, and brother-in-law, Bill.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at Couchiching, with Fr. Victor De Gagné celebrant.
