MICHAEL CRESSEY

With great sadness, the family of Michael Cressey announces his sudden death on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. Michael was coming home to be with his family for a few days before returning to work.
He will be missed by his parents, Tom and Shirley Cressey; sister, Susan (Ken) Ploegman; brother, Peter Cressey; nephew, Brett, and nephew and Godchild, Daniel Ploegman; nieces, Sarah and Anne Ploegman; aunts and uncles, Muriel (Lee) Kloer, Tom (Roxanne) O’Connor, Rose (Ron) Mondor, Ron (Mary) O’Connor, Nora (Barry) Rogers, Carole (Brian) Dent, Bill (Dorothy) Austin, and all their children; aunt, Laurie Ann Cressey; cousins, Sarah and Elizabeth Cressey, and Tracey Croft; and all his cherished and very special friends, young and old.
Michael was born April 22, 1975 in Port Hope, Ont. He moved to Fort Frances at the age of two-and-a-half years. He attended school at St. Francis, and later at Fort Frances High School.
During those years, he enjoyed playing sports and spending time with his friends and family.
Following high school graduation, Michael attended Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., where he graduated from the Correctional Worker program and the Liberal Arts diploma program.
During the time while attending college, he worked as a summer student at Abitibi-Consolidated in Fort Frances.
Upon graduation from the Correctional Worker program, Michael attended Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., where he began working on his Criminal Justice degree.
During this time at university, he worked for High Tec Security in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. until 2003. Michael then moved to Thunder Bay, Ont., where he began work for Confederation College as a security officer for the college campus.
He enjoyed working with the students and staff, and held the utmost respect for his employers and co-workers. Michael will be missed by his family and friends who were most important to him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Francis Pudicherry will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 from 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John Supinski, Jonny O’Connor, Rich Peri, Chris Hill, Jason Kuiack, and David Black.
Honourary pallbearers will be Adrian Huntley, Ken Ploegman, Rob Gibson, Cam and Andrea Laidlaw, Ryan O’Connor, Roy Summers, Marla Peramaki, and Mike Christiansen.
Should family and friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
