It is with great sorrow that the family of Melvin Snowball announces his passing on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Melvin was born on June 23, 1964 in Atikokan, Ont. to George and Rose Snowball.
Melvin was a hard-working person who never hesitated to help out his family and neighbours. He loved to pick wild rice with his family and was a traditional dancer when he was young.
He leaves behind his partner, Cynthia Smith; children, Riley Snowball-Ray, Rose Smith-Snowball, and Sylvia Smith Snowball; siblings, Josephine Arvelin, Shirley Snowball (Sheldon Whitecrow), and Edwin (Darlene) Snowball; sister-in-law, Rosie Snowball; brother-in-law, John Arvelin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, George and Rose; brothers, Allan, Donald (Janet Carlson), Mel, and Kelvin Snowball; and sister, Janet Snowball.
A traditional wake will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Naicatchewenin First Nation gymnasium.
A traditional funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Naicatchewenin First Nation gymnasium, with Elder Gilbert Smith officiating.
The pallbearers will be Melvin’s family and friends.
