MELVIN PAUL MORKEN

With heavy hearts the family of Mevlin Morken announce his sudden passing on July 29, 2021. Melvin was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and amazing friend. His life reflected all that was honourable, kind, and filled with integrity.

Melvin was born to Anna and Paul Morken on May 14, 1940, in Emo, Ontario.

Melvin was united in marriage on August 30, 1968, to Eleanor, beloved wife and best friend, at the Lutheran Church in Stratton, Ontario.

He had unwavering faith and spent a great deal of time reading his bible, going to church and praying for his family. Melvin was an active member of the Victory Baptist Church.

Melvin worked at Silver & Kircher where he obtained his carpenter trade. For 30 years Melvin worked at the Riverside Health Care Centre, where he obtained his 4th Class Power Engineer.

Melvin enjoyed spending time in the garden, going back to Riverside for coffee with the maintenance department, working out at Dean and Bobbi’s in Emo, and loved restoring and using his John Deere two-cylinder tractors. He loved hunting with all his buddies in Stratton, especially the times spent at the hunt shacks talking about what went on that day and what the plans were for the next day.

His greatest joy was spending time with family. He was proud of his kids and grandkids and looked forward to their visits, standing watching at the window for them to arrive. He always loved to hear updates about what was going on in their lives.

Melvin will lovingly be remembered by his wife Eleanor Morken; son Dean Morken (Bobbi Jo); daughter Shawna Masters (Duane); grandchildren Blake Morken, Courtney Morken, Tianna Masters, Eric Morken and Daniel Masters; sister Hazel Gratton (Bob); brothers Ed Morken (Faye), Wayne Morken; mother-in-law Eileen Alexander; sister-in-law Evie Fisher; brother-in-law Fred Alexander (Ruth) and Lawrence Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
