Peacefully, on Sunday, June 3, 2007, Melvin D. Watson was called home to his heavenly father.
Melvin was born June 11, 1926 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Ellen and Gilbert Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence, of 62 years; children, Kieth, Wayne (Dixie), Fern (Earl), Cheryl (Terry), and Dennis; grandchildren, Cori, Robbie (Sherry), Trevor (Lynn), Tracy, Kim (Al), Clinton (Vanessa), Cristy (Shawn), Courtney (Jason), Ben, and Rachel (Jim); and great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jordan, and Kayden.
Melvin was predeceased by his son, James (Beaver); parents, Ellen and Gilbert; brothers, Clarence, Leslie, and Gordon; sisters, Hazel and Mildred; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven.
On Dec. 22, 1944, Mel married the love of his life, Florence Alice McDonald. In 1951, they moved to Cam Lake, where he worked for Mando for 43 years.
After 13 years, the family moved back to Fort Frances. In 1977, they moved to Crozier, where he resided until his death.
Mel had a great love for his family, and nobody or nothing came before that. Mel would spend hours telling stories of his family and their many accomplishments. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren.
He loved spending days on the lake fishing, and also spent hours in his workshop making different gifts for his family.
Family and friends will be received at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fort Frances on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 12:30 p.m., where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Trevor Martin, Robert Watson, Clinton Beadle, Shawn Leahey, Jason Holden, and George MacDonald.
The honourary pallbearers will be Cori Watson, Tracy Martin, Kim Martin, Cristy Beadle, Courtney Beadle, and Lynn Temple.
