Sadly the family announces the passing of Melvin Jourdain, 79, of Couchiching First Nation on October 22, 2025, at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Melvin was born on March 17, 1946, in Fort Frances to parents Mose and Regina Jourdain.
He was a residential school survivor in Manitoba and he played professional hockey during his time in school. He was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017.
He continued his schooling and became an electrician. Melvin remained in Manitoba his entire working career and retired to Fort Frances.

He is survived by his son Darrel Jourdain and his granddaughter Jasmine. He is also survived by his siblings Everett Jourdain (Wendy) and Wilma Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents Mose and Regina; his siblings Louis, Willy, Calvin, Marlene and Vicky.
As per Melvin’s wishes cremation will take place and there will be no public service.
