It is with great sadness that the family of May Edna Matheson announces her passing on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 at Rainycrest Home For The Aged.
May was born on May 13, 1932 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Robert and Marta McKenzie.
She lived in Fort Frances all her life, working at various businesses over the years. She was well-respected for her hard work ethic.
Mom loved to host family dinners as she was a wonderful cook.
May was united in marriage to Ivan (Ike) Matheson and together they raised three children, Jill, Jack and Karen.
She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, an avid bowler for years and loved playing baseball in her younger years. May also enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard and darts.
Mom enjoyed many trips to the casino with family and friends and relaxing at home cheering on the Blue Jays.
She leaves behind her children, Jill, and husband, Harvey Perry, of Fort Frances; Jack Matheson and wife, Julie, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and Karen Edwardson and Tom Johnson of Walker, Mn.; grandchildren, Tammy (Darcy), Dana (Gene), Eric, Kyle (Laura), Jason (Kilena), Ryan and Trevor (Sarah); and great-grandchildren, Lyndsey, Reece, Ethan, Ryan, Evelyn, Marly May, Nellie, Grace and Bauer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
May was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ike; brothers, Lyle, Vernon and David; and sister, June.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 in Fort Frances.
