MAURICE SHEBAGEGIT

Maurice Shebagegit, 74, of the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born March 21, 1939 in Emo, Ont. and had lived in this area all of his life.
As a young man, he worked at the International Falls paper mill, built houses, but spent most of his life in the outdoors guiding.
He really enjoyed his Bingo and watching fastball. He also loved spending time with his family.
Maurice leaves behind his children, Myrna Shebagegit, Derek Shebagegit (Kiley Hanson), Miranda Shebagegit, and Anita Shebagegit; and grandchildren, Micheal Norman John Andy, Annabelle Francis Shebagegit, Alyssa Mae Herbert, Rolanda Louise Shebagegit, and Victoria Maria Shebagegit.
Also surviving are his siblings, Florence Churchill, Rose Paul, Jim Shebagegit, and Norman Shebagegit; close family friend, Aaryn Zoccole; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially his Bingo partner, Lorraine Shebahkeget.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne Shebagegit; wife, Elizabeth Frances; son, Roland Shebagegit; daughter-in-law, Serena Andy; son-in-law, AJ Herbert Jr.; and siblings, Peter Shebagegit, Louise Shebagegit, and Elizabeth Boucher.
A traditional wake was held Saturday Nov. 2, 2013 at the Ojibways of Onigaming gymnasium.
Elder Harry Windego officiated at the traditional ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.
Interment took place in the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Wynn McGinnis, Larry McGinns, Lindsay Prince, Julian Shebahkeget, Doug Sinclair, and Richard Swampy.
