MARY WEPRUK

Mary Wepruk, 83, of Dainard Pavilion Rest Home in Surrey, B.C., passed away Friday, June 12, 1998. Mary was born Aug. 2, 1914 in Sundown, Man. to the late Fred and Oksana Werenko.
Mary grew up in Sundown and, in 1931, was united in marriage to Nick Wepruk. They had three sons, Metro, Robert, and Andrew. The family moved to Deerlock, Ont. and then to Fort Frances.
She was a member of the St. Anna’s Club in Fort Frances, and also was past president. She enjoyed square dancing, curling, quilting, travelling, and entertaining friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nick in 1991; a dear friend, Roy McMillan; her parents; three brothers, Steve Eliuk, John Werenko, and Metro Werenko; and three sisters, Ann Melinovich, Helen Alexiuk, and Stella Smith.
Mary is survived by sons, Metro (Jean) of Surrey, B.C., Robert (Sandra) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Andrew of Cloverdale, B.C.
Also surviving are a brother, Nick Werenko of Fort Frances, Ont.; three sisters, Kathrina Schultz of Moose Jaw, Sask., Jean Boychuk of Kenora, Ont., and Pauline Gushulak of International Falls, Mn.; seven grandchildren, Barbara (Mike) Lee of Squamish, B.C., Kathy (Steve) Taylor of Shelburne, Ont., Dale (Laurie) Wepruk of Fort Frances, Ont., Wynona and Ronald Wepruk of Surrey, B.C., Shelly Wepruk of Cornwall, Ont., and Brian Wepruk of Tillsonburg, Ont.; a great-grandson, Kurtis Wepruk; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation took place in Surrey, B.C.
Friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family on Sunday, June 21, 1998 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 22, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, followed by interment with Rev. Patrick Playfair officiating.
