Martin, Mary

Mary (Weber) Martin of Stratton, ON passed away peacefully and went to to be with the Lord, on May 22, 2020 at Mine Centre, ON, with family by her side, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 25 days, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on November 27, 1940 in St. Jacobs, ON to Amsey and Lovina (Brubacher) Weber.
In her youth, she committed her life to Christ and was baptized upon the confession of her faith. She was the beloved wife of Cleason Martin whom she married on September 14, 1961. They enjoyed over 58 years together.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband Cleason, Stratton and 7 children: Gary (Erma), Mine Centre; Diane (Leon) Hursh, Ephrata, PA; Joyce (David) Plett, Mine Centre; Nancy, Fort Frances; Dwayne (Marlene), Cove, OR; Darrell (Sharon), Mine Centre; Mary Beth (James) Krahn, Cove; 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters: Henry (Agnes) Weber, Heidelberg, ON; Abner (Edna) Weber, St. Jacobs, ON; Minerva (Irvin) Kraemer, Wallenstein, ON; Martha (Edward) Reist, Listowel, ON; Alice (Merlyn) Martin, Westmeath, ON.
She was predeceased by her parents; one brother James Weber and his wife Lorene; sister-in-law Eileen (Martin) Brubacher and her husband Ivan; and 2 grandchildren.
In 1974 they were called to help begin a church at Mine Centre where they lived until 2000. She was a steady companion and helper on their many trips to serve the church in India from 1993 to 2017. The last 20 years of her life they lived at Stratton. She was a faithful member of the Woodside Mennonite church at the the time of her death and will be fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her for her loving unselfish service.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a call-in funeral service will be held on May 28, 2020 followed by a family grave-side service at the Pineview Church cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd.
