MARY SOCHOLOTUK

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Socholotuk announces her passing on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 82.
Mary was born on November 20, 1923 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Nicholas and Eudokia Boyda. She was united in marriage to Alex Socholotuk on January 18, 1947.
Mary was an avid gardener and a talented artist. She excelled at painting, Ukrainian Easter egg design, and needlework of all sorts. To the delight of her family and friends, she was also an excellent cook.
Mary was at home in the bush and could hunt and fish with the best of them. There isn’t a part of the district that went unexplored by Mary and Alex.
She is survived by her husband Alex; sons Richard (Tracy Gibson) and Allen (Josee Gaudreault) and daughter Sharen; grandchildren Christopher and Michael Socholotuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her father Nicholas; mother Eudokia; stepfather Carl Woijcik; brothers William and John and nephew Frank Boyda.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers being offered at 7:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. George’s Ukrainian Church. Right Reverend Doctor Olah Krawchenko will officiate with interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ont.
The active pallbearers will be Dennis Soderholm, Terry Soderholm, Lyle Smith, Glen Boyda, Willie Anderson, and Stan Sockolotuk Jr.
The honourary pallbearers will be Alex Markowski, Chuck Armit, Tom Sockolotuk and Stan Sockolotuk Sr.
