Mary Margaret Baldwin (nee Ryan), 89, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, March 11, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1909 in Sleeman, Ont. to the late Edward and Elizabeth Ryan.
Mary had spent most of her life living in Fort Frances.
Mary was united in marriage to Gordon Baldwin on May 26, 1936. Following their marriage, they moved to Texas. It was too darn hot there so they moved to Chicago. She worked for several years for Marshall Fields in Chicago and then returned to Fort Frances.
She was a member of the C.W.L. and the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, on Dec. 7, 1998; her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Ryan; and brothers, William (Bill) Ryan, Patrick (Pat) Ryan, Edward (Ed) Ryan, Lawrence Ryan, and Michael Ryan.
She is survived by her sister, Teresa Stuart, and sister-in-law, Ann Ryan, both of Fort Frances; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, 1999 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Father Ed Kosa O.M.I. officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ryan Crowe, Richard Rob, Robert Stuart, Doug Jensen, Bill Badiuk, and Don Baldwin.
Mary will be sorrowfully missed by her family and many friends whose lives were bettered by knowing her.
