It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Luella Allen (nee Flinders) at the age of 75 years.

Marilou was born on July 25, 1948, to George and Luella Flinders of Fort Frances, Ontario. They resided in the McIrvine area after her birth.

On May 21, 1966, Marilou married the love of her life Dennis in a ceremony at the Knox United Church in Devlin. When they were courting, Dennis used to call Marilou’s house and play the song “Hello Marilou” to her.

Marilou loved her gardens, many hours were spent meticulously weeding and tending to her flowers. She also loved traveling with family and friends. There were many road trips with their good friends Jack and Jackie. Marilou also loved to go to the Beargrease Dog Sled Races in Beaver Bay, Minnesota, and she enjoyed traveling with her sisters Doreen and Diane and their spouses. When Marilou’s family began to grow there were many camping trips and trips with Jim and Charon and their family. Just being with her family brought her great joy. Marilou had a great love for ceramics, she enjoyed and was proud of all the treasures she made.

Marilou always had pets and loved her animals so much. From birds to bunnies and of course her beloved dogs Bouncer and Missy. Family had to attend many birthday parties for Missy.

While living in Devlin, Marilou made many lifelong friends. She loved to bake homemade cookies and have tea at her kitchen table for hours and there was always the smell of baking bread. After her sons went to high school, Marilou decided to work outside of her home. She got a job at Adel’s Hallmark Shop in Fort Frances. She enjoyed working with the giftware and jewellery. It is here where her love of “Precious Moments” began. You knew you were loved if she gifted you a precious moments figurine.

Marilou is predeceased by her parents George and Luella Flinders; her step-father Fred Clemenger; a step-sister Cathy; brother-in-law Joe Tremblay; sister-in-law Linda Allen; sister-in-law Charon Allen; sister-in-law Marjorie Boileau; brother-in-law Louis Boileau; brother-in-law Roy Allen; in-laws Ross and Martha Allen; and a nephew Leonard Allen.

Left to mourn are her husband Dennis of 57 years; sons Mark and Shelley, Micheal and Tracey; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Luke, Ryan and Mariah and Parker Allen, whom she loved so much. Also surviving are Marilou’s great-grandchildren Hendrix and Amelia Allen and Harrison Henry and a brother-in-law Jim Allen.

Marilou is survived by her siblings Doreen and Ron Morrison, Rose Tremblay, Diane and Gary Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
