MARY JOYCE LUCKIE

Mary Joyce Luckie, age 83, of Fort Frances passed away suddenly on Friday September 2, 2005 at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Mary was born on May 23, 1922 in Poland. Her family arrived in Canada on April 2, 1930 and settled in Southern Manitoba.
As a young woman she moved to Winnipeg and there she met and married William Frederickson and together they had four children Marion, Elizabeth, Judy, and Barry.
In 1967 she moved to Fort Frances with John Luckie and they were married in 1972. Mary worked as a cook most of her life and retired from Rainycrest in the early 1980’s.
After retiring she moved to Emo becoming one of the first residents at Golden Age Manor. She resided there until her health forced her to move back to Fort Frances.
Mary was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo and enjoyed traveling, fishing, crafts and gardening. She was an excellent cook and had a home remedy for every ailment.
She was predeceased by her parents Carl and Helen Dresler; first husband William Frederickson; second husband John Luckie and son Barry Frederickson.
Mary is survived by her daughters Marion, Elizabeth and Judy all of Winnipeg, MB; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Marge and nephew Jim (Kay) Schindel of Niagara Falls, ON; sisters-in-law Anne Turgeon of Fort Frances, Antonia Spuzak of Crozier and Ann Luchka of Dryden; nephews Mike (Lillian) Bodnar and Bill (Doreen) Bodnar of Crozier and many more nieces and nephews and their families as well as close friends Cliff and Cheryl Hagen and their family of Black Hawk.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, Ontario. Pastor Andrew Hall officiated with interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario.
The honourary pallbearers were Mike Bodnar, Bill Bodnar, Cliff Hagen, Ralph Hagen, Justin Hagen and Jim Schindel.
The active pallbearers were Joe Bodnar, Anthony Vanderaa, Jim Luchka, Ray Mose, Stewart Carter and Patrick Hyatt.
