MARY FREDRICKSON

Sadly, we announce the passing of Mary Fredrickson at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ont. on Aug. 9, 1999 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Mary Margaret Bowman on Jan. 18, 1930 in Chapple Township to John Nels Bowman and the former Fannie Dorothy Kallstrom.
Surviving Mary is her best friend and loving husband of 38 years, Ed; daughter, Sharron; grandsons, Paul and Stoney; four great-grandchildren, all of Thunder Bay; sisters, Norma (Richard) DeBenedet of International Falls, Mn., Ruth McMillan of Abbotsford, B.C., Bella Weppler of Calgary, Alta., Bernice (Emile) DeGagne of Kenora, and Beverley Bowman-Inoue of Hawaii.
Beverley, a retired nurse who came to Canada this summer, lovingly cared for Mary during her last days with us.
Especially missing Mary is her Siamese, Susie. Also fondly remembering her are George Fredrickson of Orlando, Fl., and Millie and Walt Beyak and Leona Fredrickson of Atikokan; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her father in 1946; her mother in 1973; brother-in-law, Gus Klepetz in 1983; sister, Lena Klepetz in 1988; and niece, Cindy McMillan in 1991.
Mary was an avid gardener and craftsperson, especially knitting and crocheting. Her latest project was to complete several quilt pieces for Atikokan’s 100th anniversary. She and Ed also enjoyed many camper trailer trips.
Immediate cremation has taken place due to Mary’s wishes.
Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, with Rev. Bob Faykes officiating.
Interment in Rainy River, Ont. will take place at a later date.
