MARY EMILY CAUL

With great sadness, the family of Mary Caul announces her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at the age of 88.
Mary was born in Quinton, Sask. and moved to Fort Frances at the age of 16. She worked for the Lund family at Eric’s Lund and then at the local Fort Frances Bakery.
Mary, along with her sister, Bette, also sang at the local radio station.
Mary loved music and she loved to dance. It was at a dance at the McIrvine Hall where she met her husband, Stephen Caul. Mary and Steven were married for 59 years and worked side by side at the family farm at Frog Creek until his passing in 2004.
Mary loved being outdoors; producing a wealth of vegetables each year in her garden whle tending her beautiful flower beds and yard (not one weed could be found in Mary’s gardens).
She loved to feel the sun on her face, and watch the birds and squirrels as they fought for dominance at her feeders.
No one went hungry when they entered Mary’s kitchen. She always could quickly prepare a meal for unexpected guests and she was famous for her homemade doughnuts, bread, cinnamon buns, and fried chicken.
Family and friends were the most important part of Mary’s life. Every birthday, anniversary, and holiday always was celebrated with a special delicious meal, followed by a game of cards, Aggravation, or Ten Thousand.
Her large, homey kitchen was the hub of activity.
Mary loved her three children deeply, with an unconditional support in all we did. We really “lucked out” to have her for our mom!
Spending time with her great-grandchildren put the biggest smile on her face, and they adored her.
Mary is survived by her children, Betty Ann LaRocque (Len), June Caul (Lee), and Bill Caul (Luanne); grandchildren, Shannon LaRocque, Jamie Caul, Jacquee Loerzel (Curt), Jeff Savage (Kyla), Shawn Caul, Stacy Caul (Paul), Aaron Caul (Nicole), and Jon Caul (Amanda); and great-grandchildren, Aiden Loerzel, Ayanna Savage, and Evan, Taylor, Madison, Tatum, Ariya, and Kaelei Caul.
Also surviving is Mary’s sister, Bette Martinson, and her brother, Joe Armbruster.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. at June’s residence, 1033 Portage Avenue N., Fort Frances.
