MARY BOTTENFIELD

The family of Mary Bottenfield sadly announces her sudden passing on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at the age of 88.
She had resided at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont. for the past eight months.
Mary was born in Hungary on July 12, 1923 and immigrated to Canada at the age of six. Her family settled in the Dearlock community, where she met Murl Bottenfield.
They were married in 1941, and resided and raised their family in Rainy River District for the rest of their lives.
Mary was active in the community her entire life, whether it was participating in the North Branch ladies’ group, leading 4-H, volunteering for the area seniors, or writing for the Fort Frances Times.
She loved her flowers, gardening, and quilting, but most of all her family.
In addition to being a valued neighbour and friend, she will be remembered by many for her kind and generous spirit.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Vera Majoros; brothers, Vincent and Joe; husband, Murl, in 1987; an infant daughter in 1946; daughter-in-law, Frances Bottenfield; and son-in-law, Ron Erb.
Mary is survived by her special long-time friend, Clark Neilson of Stratton, Ont. and her children, Ellis of Red Lake, Ont., Louise Erb of Fort Frances, Ont., Judy (Chuck) Abey of Thunder Bay, Ont., Nancy (Bob) Fretter of Stratton, Ont., Bruce (Carol) of Kamloops, B.C.; and Bonnie Bradley of Okotoks, Alta.
She also is survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, John Jr. in Welland, Ont.; and sister, Vera, of Toronto, Ont.
Family and friends were invited to celebrate Mary’s life on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
Interment took place in Pine Ridge Cemetery at North Branch, Ont.
