Mary Ann Keenan (nee Coran)

Mary Ann Keenan (nee Coran) passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Falls Memorial Hospital in International Falls, Mn.
Her loving granddaughter, Marla Lemieux, great-grandson, Brock Lemieux Krahnke, and her loyal poodle, “Buffy,” were by her side.
Mary was born Oct. 14, 1917 and was a life-long resident of International Falls, residing with her granddaughter, Marla, at 803 2nd St.
One of her greatest joys in life was helping her family. She also worked for numerous years in the meat department at the national T supermarket, was the owner of the local Dairy Queen, and also proud proprietor of the Funkley Bar and Grill.
During World War II, Mary went to work in the Washington shipyards as a “Rosie Riveter.”
She was a charter member of the machinist auxiliary, American Legion, St. Thomas League, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary, Margaret Corell Club, and the Loyal Order of the Moose, and also volunteered for the Falls Nursing Home and Senior Center.
Mary Ann was a weekly Bingo player at the Aquinas Hall and frequented Lady J’s beauty parlor. She enjoyed Friday night fish dinners and travelling with friends and family.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Chiara Ann Coran; her son, Ray Balfour; daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Jim Lemieux; husbands, Ray Balfour, Glenn Brown, and Bill Keenan; brothers, John and Nello Coran; and sisters, Matilda Piekarski, Norma Pellicci, and Helen Kuryla.
Mary is survived by her sister, Blanche Chowan; brother, Marlo (Jenny) Coran; sisters-in-law, Gertie Coran and Margaret Fredericks; and step-children, Gary (Carolyn) Davison, Robert (Beverly) Davison, and Jerri Brown. 
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Marla, Mary, and Mike Lemieux; great-grandchildren, Brock Lemieux Krahnke, and Zach and Chloe Lemieux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at the Green-Larsen Memorial Chapel in International Falls.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006 at noon at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls, with a luncheon to follow at the Aquinas Hall.
