MARY ANN JULIA ‘MARIE’ GREEN

Mary Ann Julia Green, 99, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ont., passed away with family by her side, Friday, July 31, 1998 at her residence.
Mary Ann Julia Green (nee Perlette) was born April 22, 1899 in Pipestone, Man. to the late Otto and Margretha Perlette. She moved from Virden, Man. to Fort Frances, Ont., in 1920. Mary was united in marriage to William “Harold” Sanderson Green of Box Alder, Ont. on May 4, 1921. Together they settled in Box Alder, living on the farm until 1942 when they moved to Fort Frances.
“Marie”, as she was known to her friends, enjoyed baking, card playing, curling, dancing and spent many hours in her garden where her “green thumb” was very evident. She was a very active member of Knox United Church, Fort Frances Curling Club, Horticultural Society, Meals on Wheels, Senior Citizens Club, Redwing Rebekah Lodge #109, Orange Lodge, a life-time member of the Liberal Party, and was on the C.O.P.E. board.
She was predeceased by her husband “Harold” Green (Oct. 19, 1970); seven brothers, Fred, Lou, Cecil, Perk, Kelly, Laurie and Otto; four sisters Lorraine, Gertie, Ethel and Alma; one great grandson Gabriel Vogt.
She leaves to mourn three daughters Doris and husband Maynard Raun of Bella Vista, Ark., Maxine and husband Joe Plumridge of Fort Frances, Ont., and Ann Eggett and David Ostby of Fort Frances, Ont.; 11 grandchildren Cheryl and husband Dave Jones of Princeton, Mn., Beryl and husband Al Vogt of Cook, Mn., Richard Raun and wife Cindy of Cloquet, Mn., Jeff Raun of Austin, Texas, Tim Raun of Duluth, Mn., Debra and husband Jim Armstrong, Rod Plumridge and wife Linda, Lyle Plumridge, and Greg Plumridge all of Fort Frances, Ont., John Eggett and wife Diane of Delta, B.C., Jodi and husband Leonard King of Bakersfield, Cal.; 17 great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Trevor and Ryan Armstrong, Jeff and Robbie Plumridge, Christian and Morgan Raun, Jessica Dewing, Jacob Johnson, Benjamin and Andrew Raun, Amanda and Matthew Vogt, Jereme, Tyler and Carlee Eggett, Taylor King; three sisters-in-law Norma Perlette of Fort Frances, Ella Jewell of Emo, Ont., and Thelma Green of Atikokan, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ont. John Chornabay officiated with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ont.
Friends visited Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont. Prayers were offered at 7 p.m.
The honourary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Debbie Armstrong, Beryl Vogt, John Eggett, Jeff Raun and Tim Raun.
The pallbearers were her grandchildren Rod Plumridge, Lyle Plumridge, Greg Plumridge, Jodi King, Rick Raun, and Cheryl Jones.
