MARY ANN CAUL

Mary Ann Caul, of Mine Centre, Ont., passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the age of 60.
Mary was born Dec. 9, 1949 and was the fourth child of 10 born to Fred and Vivian Hartnell of Rainy River, Ont.
Mary grew up in the Township of Blue with her parents and nine siblings: Carol (Hugh) Clifford, Emily Duggan, Eleanor (Archie) Weirsma, Phyllis (Ralph) Angus, Everett (Laurie) Hartnell, Doug (Sandy) Hartnell, Jamie (Dorothy) Hartnell, Cindy Mowe (predeceased), and Donna (Paul) Heyens.
After graduating from Rainy River High School, Mary worked at Helliar’s Resort in Nestor Falls, Ont., where she met her husband, Wilmer Caul. They were united in marriage on Oct. 12, 1968.
Mary and Wilmer truly were soulmates and best friends who worked together to build a loving home for their four children, Sonny (Kathy) Caul of Mine Centre, Ont., Anna (Jason) Demchuk of Balzac, Alta., Shannon (Angela) Caul of Airdrie, Alta., and Angie (Rick) Vanderaa of Emo, Ont.
When first married, Mary and Wilmer lived in Black Hawk, Ont. next to Wilmer’s parents, Clarence (predeceased) and Ruth Caul. For three short years, Mary and Wilmer moved to Rainy River and then back to Black Hawk.
In 1984, they moved to their home in Mine Centre.
After moving to Mine Centre, Mary worked at the store for a while and then went to work at Mine Centre Public School as a educational assistant for 19 years. With her great patience and special love of children, Mary has made a difference in the lives of many children.
Mary loved people. Her coffee pot was always on and her house often was full of family. Mary particularly loved her grandchildren, Kendall and Christopher Demchuk, Brooklyn, Peyton, and Cash Caul, and Wyatt and Morgan Vanderaa.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and working in her flower gardens. Every spring, Mary and Wilmer would check out the local greenhouses and buy new flowers to put in her already overflowing flower beds.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating.
The pallbearers were Kelvin Caul, Jim Caul, Ted Menson, Stewart Allan, Kelly Wilson, and Garry Demchuk.
