The family of Marvin (Melvin) Mainville sadly announces his death from natural causes on July 11, 2015 in Regina, SK.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1942 in Fort Frances. He was raised by his grandparents Joseph and Josephine Mainville on Couchiching First Nation.
He spent many years working as a long haul trucker and had many stories to tell about his travels. He was always up for a good game of cribbage and he was a hard one to beat.
He spent the last years of his life in Regina, but kept in contact with family through letters and phone calls.
Marvin is survived by son, Patrick (Jill) and his five children; daughter, Loretta Ann Mainville; and their mother, Cecilia Bluebird.
Also surviving are his Desrosiers siblings, Marcella, Ken (Kitty) and Clayton (Oona Seguin) of Fort Frances, and Patrick (Anchalee) of Trenton, IL.
His Anderson siblings are Elaine McGunnigle and Joanne Stewart of Florida, Margaret Narum and Beverly Johnson of Minnesota, and Gerald of Kansas.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his mother, Rita (Mainville) Anderson, and his father, Gus Desrosiers; his grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Mainville; and his daughter, Eileen Mainville.
Gone also are siblings Ronald, Michelle and Karla Desrosiers.
Marvin has been cremated and his ashes sent home to Fort Frances.
There will be prayers offered by Father Vic DeGagne at a graveside service at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery on Couchiching First Nation at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015.
