It is with great sorrow that the family of Marvin James Chernaski announces his sudden passing on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Falls Memorial Hospital in Int’l. Falls, MN.
Marvin was born Feb. 5, 1943 in Fort Frances, Ont., to John and Mary (Havluck) Chernaski, who preceded him in 1956.
In 1964 Marvin moved to Int’l. Falls. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces and the United States Army and was Honourably Discharged from both.
Marvin retired from the Int’l. Falls Paper Mill and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time attending bike rallies, cooking, fishing, and hunting. His greatest joy in his life was his son Gram McCloud, (Portland, Ore.) who will miss him deeply.
Marvin is also survived by his partner in life, Sherrie Stromstad (Int’l. Falls), his brothers Duane and Barry (Thunder Bay), and his sisters, LaVerna (Robert) Brown and Marilyn (Lorne) Cousineau (Everett, Wash.), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life was conducted at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Int’l. Falls on June 14, 2007, with full U.S. and Canadian Military rites.
Honourary pallbearers were Willie Anderson, Bill Shine, Terry Wood, Rob Mallory, Larry “Bronson” Tkachyk, and all his loving family and friends.
On Eagles Wings
And he will raise you up on eagles’ wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His hand.
